Traveler's Inn Motor Lodge was recently remodeled. It sits near two local favorite restaurants, Sam & Omie's and Owens'. The Tanger Outlet Mall is across the highway, and a pier, great local grocery and fast food restaurants are nearby. Rooms, efficiencies and cottages are offered featuring cable TV with HBO. All accommodations have queen or double and twin beds. Enjoy the convenience of an on-site tackle shop and fish cleaning station. The lodge features an outdoor pool. No pets are allowed. This is a non-smoking facility.

Adventure Bound Campground

The Adventure Bound Campground is a tent-only campground with 20 sites. They have a large bathhouse with hot water showers and guest laundry facilities. There is a campfire area for relaxing and badminton, volleyball and shuffleboard courts for playing. Pets are not allowed. Adventure Bound is open year round.

Beach Haven Motel

Beach Haven Motel emphasizes quality over quantity. They have five guest rooms that are located just across the street from the beach on an attractively landscaped lot. Their mini-efficiency rooms include a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. Choose from either their economy rooms, which accommodate two people, or their deluxe rooms, which accommodate four. Each room includes a deck. A guest picnic area is available with a gas grill and picnic table. Low-cost rentals are available for beach supplies like chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards. The Motel is entirely non-smoking. The Beach Haven is closed from mid-October to mid-May.

Beacon Motor Lodge

Pets are not allowed. The Lodge includes an oceanfront patio, two kiddy pools, a large outdoor pool, grills, lending library, laundry facilities, daily maid service (except in the cottages) and a ramp for handicapped beach access. The Beacon Motor Lodge is open late March through mid October.

Blue Heron Motel

The Blue Heron Motel is closed during the month of January.

Buccaneer Motel and Beach Suites

The Buccaneer Motel and Beach Suites offers rooms and suites just across the Beach Road from the ocean. Rooms include a blow dryer, small refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave, while suites have full kitchens. They have suites from one to three bedrooms in size. Guests enjoy an outdoor pool, playground, picnic tables and charcoal grills. For your convenience, there are guest laundry facilities and a fish cleaning station. Best of all, the beach is directly across the street. The Buccaneer is open year round. Pets are not allowed.

Cahoon’s Cottages

Located next door to a variety store by the same name, Cahoon's oceanfront location features two -, three - and four-bedroom cottages with bed combinations of singles, doubles and queens. All the cottages have a porch. This is old Nags Head-style vacationing at its best where the focus is on the beach, getting to know your neighbors and simple fun. Cable TV is offered, and pets are not allowed.

Cavalier Motel

The Cavalier Motel is a quintessential beach motel: oceanfront and comfy. They offer three choices for accommodations -- basic rooms, rooms equipped with kitchenettes and cottages. The oceanfront rooms feature decks, and guests can simply open the door and walk right out to the beach. They have an outdoor pool that is open in season, a kids' play area, shuffleboard, horseshoes and volleyball. There is a fish cleaning station and a grill for guest use. The basic rooms include a refrigerator and microwave, and the rooms with kitchenettes and cottages include all major kitchen appliances plus toasters, coffee makers, pots and pans. All rooms receive daily maid service. Pets are allowed in the cottages, but they ask that pets be crated when left alone.

Charlie’s Family RV Park

A mere 50 yards from the Atlantic Ocean, this is a family RV park that is open from April 1 to December 1. They have more than 150 permanent units and a spot meant for use by those traveling through or stopping by for a week or a weekend. Charlie's is a close-knit, fun and active community and includes amenities such as a saltwater pool, newspaper boxes and recycling containers. Numerous social activities provides guests of Charlie's the comforts of home with the joy of beach living. Children are valuable members of the Charlie's community, and they have activities planned for them all summer including puppet shows, movies, craft days and other events.

Colington Creek Inn

Colington Creek Inn is located on picturesque Colington Road and sits along the waterfront of its namesake, Colington Creek. The inn features four large rooms with private bathrooms, and each has a great view of the water. The location is serene, and it's just a mile and a half from the ocean. They serve a delicious full breakfast every day. They also have large enclosed porches that are screened in summer to allow the breezes to sweep through and become warm sunrooms in the colder months. Every evening you'll find the delicious hors d'oerves served on these porches, and if the weather permits the innkeepers even treat guests to an evening cruise. The inn is happy to pick you up at Kill Devil Hills airport as they are only five minutes from the Wright Memorial. They also provide dock space for boats. Colington Creek Inn is open year round.

Colonial Inn Motel

Cypress House Inn

The Cypress House was built in the 1940s as a hunting and fishing lodge, and the interior features cypress tongue and groove paneled walls and ceilings. It's located just across the Beach Road from the ocean with a direct ocean access. Six guest rooms are available with private bathrooms. Coffee and tea are placed right outside your door early every morning to enjoy before the home-cooked breakfast is served in the dining room. The Cypress House has a common room with a fireplace and a large porch.

Cypress Moon Bed and Breakfast

Cypress Moon is located on the sound and offers three waterfront guest rooms. Each one has a private bath and is furnished with antiques, satellite TV, stereo and refrigerator. The owners of this B&B are longtime residents of the Outer Banks.

Days Inn Mariner Motel

This motel is neat and well-kept. Most of the motel is located on the oceanfront, but there are some rooms available in separate buildings across the beach road. They also handle the reservations for one of the traditional motels on the beach. Choose from accommodations of efficiencies, suites up to two bedrooms and standard rooms. Efficiencies and suites have full kitchens and rooms have micro-fridges and coffee makers. Free wireless Internet is available in all rooms. There is an outdoor pool open in season. All guests can enjoy complimentary access to the Outer Banks YMCA in Nags Head, which has outdoor and indoor pools, fitness equipment, aerobics and yoga classes. Every morning the motel serves a complimentary continental breakfast. The Days Inn Mariner is open all year with the exception of one week around Christmastime.

Fin ‘N Feather Waterside Inn

Perched on the water near Pirate's Cove Marina Club, this motel is popular with anglers. Feel free to bring your boat; there is a boat launch for guest use only and 160 feet of dock space. They have a fish cleaning station. Rooms have double beds and efficiencies with stove, refrigerator, microwave and utensils. Large windows provide sound views. All rooms are non-smoking, and dogs are allowed. Reservations are advised, regardless of the season.

First Colony Inn

Located just 600 feet from the ocean, this old Nags Head-style inn (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) has a private beach access and a large outdoor pool. Throughout the hotel you can access wireless Internet and use remote printing services, and each room is equipped with a large desk and ergonomic chair. Holiday Inn Express

This hotel is located on the Bypass, but a beach access is within walking distance. They have an outdoor pool. Each morning they set up a complimentary breakfast bar. There is wireless Internet access in all the rooms. Non-smoking and handicapped accessible rooms are available. Pets are not allowed. The Holiday Inn Express is open year round.

Islander Motel

Joe & Kay’s Campground

This campground is located on Little Colington Island on the soundside in Kill Devil Hills. There are 20 campsites, restrooms with hot water and a boat ramp. Pets are allowed, but they must be on a leash.

Manor Motel

Built in 1952, the Manor Motel is an oceanfront landmark that offers rooms, efficiencies and cottages. Rooms include double beds, refrigerators and coffee makers. Outside, there are fish cleaning stations and grills. Four-legged family members can come with you here.

Located across the beach road from the oceanfront, and formerly known as "Someplace Special," these newly renovated two-bedroom cottage condos feature queen-sized beds in the bedrooms, a living room with sleep sofa, kitchen with microwave and dishwasher, cable TV, outside grill and sun deck. Here you'll have direct ocean access and be within walking distance of shops, restaurants and activities. Owner Butch Stone also has two oceanfront rental cottages in Kitty Hawk. All his rentals are non-smoking and pet-friendly!

Nags Head Beach Inn Bed and Breakfast

The Nags Head Beach Inn is located in a restored, historic Nags Head building. Originally called the Nags Head Beach Club, the building was popular in the 1930s as a pavilion-style dance hall. Originally an annex to the Nags Header Hotel (one of the original hotels on the Outer Banks), the entire building was moved north to E. Admiral Street in the 1970s. Today, the inn has eight guest rooms all located just 125 yards from the beach. There are two room styles available: The first includes a full-size bed and private bathroom with a stand-up shower, and the second is a larger room with a queen-sized bed, sitting area and private bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. The innkeepers serve a continental breakfast every morning. They have bikes, beach chairs and body boards available for guest use as well as an outdoor shower. The inn is non-smoking.

Owens’ Motel

Built in the 1950s, this is one of the treasured old-school beach motels. Saltaire is great for families and has watched generations of families return each year. They have an in-ground pool that's also right across from the beach. Accommodations include 10 two-bedroom apartments and two three-bedroom cottages. Plus, they offer one-bedroom apartments in the off-season. The cottages have cable TV with VCRs, heat/air-conditioning and telephones. All apartments have cable TV with VCRs, heat/air conditioning, telephones, full kitchens and private screened-porches. In fact, the screened-in porches are one of their most enjoyable features.

Sea Foam Motel

Built in 1948, this oceanfront motel was recently approved for the National Register of Historic Places. They have a great location, allowing easy access to the beach and to the town of Nags Head. Sea Foam offers oceanfront rooms and efficiencies. They also have cottages and a deluxe apartment. All cottages and efficiencies come completely furnished and have refrigerators, stoves and microwaves. All units and rooms have cable TV with HBO, air conditioning, phones, refrigerators and microwaves. Rooms above the first floor have private balconies. The cottages are two-, three- and four-bedroom little houses. Daily maid service is provided in rooms and efficiencies. They have an outdoor pool, playground and walkway to the beach. Oceanfront rooms have private, glassed-in balconies. They have an indoor, heated pool. Wireless Internet is available in the lobby. Pets are not allowed. A complimentary continental breakfast is served every morning. Call to ask about special group rates. There is an on-site oceanfront restaurant called the Pearl with special event facilities and catering. The Sea Ranch is open year round.

The Tar Heel Motel
